In Loving Memory of
Amanda Rose Bates

Amanda Rose Bates, 26, of Edwardsville died at 8:28 p.m. on January 26, 2018 at Edwardsville Nursing & Rehabilitation while in hospice care surrounded by her family and friends. 

She was born January 11, 1992 and is survived by her mother Rose Bates, her father and stepmother Brent & Emily Bates, her siblings Meredith, Michael, Schaefer and Ella and grandmothers Carolyn Finch and Barb Kyro. 

She is also survived by her birth mother Sharon and her sister Amber. 

A graduate of Edwardsville High School in 2010, Amanda also attended the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in Jacksonville, IL from 2010 to 2013. 

She lived in Centralia, IL for 4 years prior to returning to Edwardsville. 

Throughout her life, Amanda's passion was dogs, their care, training and being a part of pet rescue. 

She loved attending dog shows and knew every breed along with the AKC standards of each. Amanda attended Westminster Kennel Club show in NYC as their national guest of honor in 2010. 

Her love of dogs was unrivaled! 

Additionally, Amanda was a multiple gold medal winner with Illinois Special Olympics during her time living in Centralia as part of the Colonial Apartments team from 2013 to 2016.

Amanda was predeceased by her grandparents, Lawrence "Doc" & Louise Bates and JB & Dorothy Curran all of Ottumwa, Iowa, her grandfathers David Kyro and James Finch, aunt Tooki Curran, an uncle Michael Bates and an aunt Nancy Curran. 

Preceded also by Frank Caucci. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. 

In addition, Amanda had four longtime friends who she considered family and that were always there for her. Mary Mang, Brianna Martin, Ramona Rabiei and Tia Spiller.

Visitation: Wednesday, January 31 at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home, Edwardsville at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral: Thursday, February 1 at St. Boniface Church, Edwardsville at 10:30 a.m. with burial following at St. Boniface Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edwardsville YMCA, Partners for Pets, St. Boniface Church or St. Mary's Church.
