Benny Herschel Brauer

Benny Herschel Brauer, age 91, of Edwardsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Benny, as he was called by friends and family, was born April 2, 1935 to Merle and Ruby (Kaster) Brauer in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he attended Edina High School. He later pursued his passion for piano and music at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. He loved traveling so became a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines. He also spent many years working in furniture sales.

Benny spent most of his recent years living in North Palm Beach, Florida and had moved to Edwardsville to be closer to his sister, Nancy Mackie Eilers of Edwardsville. Along with his sister, Benny leaves behind three nephews: Timothy Mackie of Edwardsville, Chris (Tania) Mackie of Washington D.C., and Paul (Rachel) Mackie of Takoma Park, Maryland. Benny also leaves behind two great nephews and a great niece: Theo Mackie, Jackson Mackie, and Zoey Mackie.

There will be a private graveside service at Buck Road Cemetery for family at a later time.
