Charlie Feldman

Charlie Feldman was born on May 19, 1962, in Palo Alto, CA. He passed away in Edwardsville on August 14, 2026. He is survived by three sisters- Gaileen Hoenig, Edwardsville IL; (John); Betty Unterbrink, Edwardsville, IL; Tawyna Elliot; Cuba, MO; as well as his niece, Rachel Gaertner and great nephew Jacob Summers, Edwardsville, IL; niece, Shiloh Waltman, and nephew, Jesse Elliott, both of Cuba, MO. His mother, Elenor Bowles; father, Howard Feldman; and sisters Janet Feldman and Nancy Kelly preceded him in death.

In his professional career, Charlie worked for several print newspapers in Illinois and Missouri, serving in editorial and reporter roles. He earned a Masters of Theology degree at Northern Baptist Seminary, and he applied that training in his newspaper work, and well as in his song writing. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Edwardsville.

Charlie was a talented musician and singer, and sang either bass or baritone with various Barbershop groups as well as in his church choir. Additionally, he sang as part of a trio with his sisters, performing throughout the past forty years at churches, funerals, and fund-raising choruses. He had a remarkable memory for music trivia- singers, song writers, trivia about music production. He could name that tune- tell you who wrote it, who sang it, the record company that produced it, when it was released and who else recorded it- within the first few notes of a song.

Charlie enjoyed meeting with his writing group at the Edwardsville Community Center, producing entertaining vignettes at weekly writing sessions. He posted and commented on humorous cuts of commercials and television stills from the 1970s on his Facebook page, and his remarks were anticipated by many.

Charlie had a hilarious sense of irony, and was an entertaining companion. He enjoyed family board-game nights, pet-sitting, and critiquing old commercials and television reruns with anyone who would listen.

Despite health challenges that affected his mobility, he addressed life with faith, ironic humor, and a caring attitude for others. Charlie was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

Visitation at First Baptist Church of Edwardsville on Thurs. Aug 20 from 9- 11: a.m. Service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials? First Baptist Church of Edwardsville and Madison County Humane Society.
