Geraldine “Gerry” Friend

Geraldine “Gerry” Friend, 88, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois. Geraldine was born November 13, 1932, in Madison, Illinois, the daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica (Rozycke) Kula.

Gerry worked at Leaders Department Store in Granite City for 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, fishing, camping, cooking, crocheting, and playing bingo. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Forrest “Dude” Friend and brother Alfred Kula.

She is survived by her daughter Donise (Duane) Georgeff of Edwardsville and son Thomas Friend of Connecticut. Grandsons Cory Georgeff of Edwardsville and Eric (Melissa) Georgeff and great granddaughter Harper of St. Louis, MO. In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison on Tuesday,March 30, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with a Mass immediately following. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
