In Loving Memory of
Jack W. Koller

Jack W. Koller, 95, passed away at his home, meeting his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.   He no longer has to endure suffering!  Born on January 6, 1930, in Madison IL, Jack was the son of Ralph Koller and Sylvania (Cox) Koller, both of Shannon City, Missouri.  In 1950 he married Mary Sue Broyles and they had a daughter, Jacqueline Sue Koller.   Then later in his life he married Alma A. Mitchell on March 15, 1975.  She survives.

Jack worked at the Continental Shoe Company and Terminal Railroad as a young man.   He hired in at Granite City Steel in 1962 as a Benzal Plant Operator retiring in 1992.

He was proud of his family heritage. His Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother came to the United States from Hamburg Germany on a boat in 1900.  Jack had many stories to tell of his long lineage and a sharp memory of detail until the end of his life.  He loved working on cars and cutting down trees in his woods for firewood.   He was a “fix-it” man; everyone he knew brought their broken down machinery and he would restore it to new.  He always said he wanted to be of help to someone each day, and so he did, helping many people.

Jack is survived by his wife, Alma, and daughter Jacqueline (Tom) Murray of Carmel IN,  stepson Paul Mitchell of Wood River IL, and stepdaughter Myra (Jack) Hughey of Alton IL;  and his beloved seven grandchildren Sat Inder S. Khalsa, Jamie Hansen, Tera (David) Wiseman, Scott (Cynthia Daisy) Gaines, Hope (Drew) Mader, Douglas (Jenny) Hughey, and Lisa (Jon) Monroe and thirteen beloved great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and all his aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

'Good Samaritans' in his life were neighbors Corinne Mewes and Earl Dean Seals.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville on Monday, February 24, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a service following at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Community Hope Center in Cottage Hills, IL.
