In Loving Memory of
Lola Jean Coleman

Lola Jean Coleman, age 83, of Edwardsville, died at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 4 at Liberty Village in Maryville, comforted in her final hours by her husband of 66 years, Carl L. Coleman, and daughters Peggy Wehling and Jill Stobie.

Jean was born on March 31, 1934 in Irving, IL, the daughter of the late Walter and Jessie (Schneider) Oberle.

On June 22, 1952, she married Carl Coleman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
In addition to her husband and daughters, both of Glen Carbon, Jean is survived by son-in-laws Jeff Wehling and Jay Stobie, grandchildren Jenna, James and Julia Stobie, sister Mary Oberle of Litchfield, brother Albert (Brenda) Oberle and step-brother Joe (Susie Boston, all of Hillsboro. Jean is also survived by her dear sister- and brother-in-law, Delores and Gayle Day of Edwardsville.

In addition to her parents, Jean was proceeded in death by an infant sister and her step-mother, Isabel Oberle.

Jean was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of St. John's Methodist Church in Edwardsville, a member of the Ladies Guild and for more than 20 years served on the church committee which prepared and served lunch to the members of the Edwardsville Rotary. Jean also served for more than 30 years as a member of the Anderson Hospital Auxiliary.

Jean was an exceptional cook and took great pleasure in making large meals for her family and, in particular, for her grandchildren. For decades, Jean and Carl were ardent supporters of the Edwardsville High School basketball team, and rarely missed attending one of their grandchildrens' sporting or other activities.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at Saksa Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jean will be interred during private services at Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Anderson Hospital Auxiliary or to the charity of the donor's choice.
