Martha Lynn (Davis) Swanon

Martha Lynn (Davis) Swanon passed away on November 4, 2024. Lynn was born

in St. Louis, Missouri on April 27,1941, to David R. and Martha McCormick Davis.

The family moved to Alton, Illinois in 1945. Lynn attended school in Alton and graduate from Alton High School in 1959 and S.I.U.E. in 1970 with a degree in History and Literature. She was employed as Social Worker while living in Florida. After returning to the Edwardsville area, she was employed at Walmart and later employed at S.I.U.E Library until she retired. She was an excellent researcher and accomplished singer. She loved her feline companions and adopted many of them over the years of her life.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and older sister Kathleen Davis Dvojack. She is survived by her younger sister (Libby) Davis Eilers, her brother-in-law, J.R. Eilers, and good friend and classmate Don Lowery.

She declined a memorial service, saying anyone who wanted to do so could think of her kindly. Any memorial to Lynn could be made to local animal shelter.
