Mary Lou Hoenig
Mary Lou Hoenig, age 87, of Edwardsville, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville.
She was born July 19, 1928, in Edwardsville, the daughter of the late Louis Puncher and Mary Jane Coleman Puncher.
She married Cecil O. Hoenig on June 28, 1947, at First Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2010.
She is survived by three sons: John (Gaileen) Hoenig of Edwardsville, Ronald (Judy) Hoenig of Edwardsville and Richard (Kammy) Hoenig of Edwardsville; three sisters: Catherine Carter, Wilma (Bill) Hemken of Granite City and Betty Mates of Texas; grandchildren: Greg Hoenig, Jeff (Jennifer) Hoenig, Stephanie Hoenig, Kayln Hoenig and Rachel Gaertner and great-grandsons: Brysen Hoenig and Jacob Summers.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister: June Blakey.
Mrs. Hoenig was a Cub Scout Den Mother and professional cake decorator. She was a cafeteria worker for Edwardsville District 7 for 20 years.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the First Baptist Church of Edwardsville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at First Baptist Church of Edwardsville with Rev. Steve Disney officiating.
Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery in Troy.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Hoenig, Stephanie Hoenig, Jeffrey Hoenig, Kevin Smith, Craig Knecht and Raymond Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kayln Hoenig, Charles Feldman and Brian Blakey.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society
