In Loving Memory of
Miriam Hertel

Miriam Hertel, age 100, of Livingston, died at 9:25 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at Heritage Manor in Staunton.

She was born Nov. 1, 1917, in Edwardsville, the daughter of the late Clarence and Martha Redding Hotz.

She married Paul F. Hertel Sr. on Feb. 11, 1936, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Paul (Sonia) Hertel Jr. of Mount Vernon, William (Donna) Hertel of Arlington, Texas, Eileen (Lester) Howerton of Livingston, Gary (Rosemary) Hertel of Surf Side Beach, S.C. and Kathy (Robie) Haring of Livingston; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry Hotz and William Hotz, one grandson: Scott Hertel and one infant sister.

Mrs. Hertel was a bookkeeper for many years at Auerbach's Ladies Apparel in Edwardsville. She was a life-long member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville.

Visitation will from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, March 8, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Disney officiating.

Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital for Children or Illinois Job's Daughters Scholarship Fund.
