In Loving Memory of
Phillip Ochoa

Phillip Ochoa, age 96, of Troy, died at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2018, in Troy.
He was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Davalos, Mexico, the son of the late Aurelio and Carmen Gomez Ochoa.

He married V. Jane Whelehan on June 26, 1946, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Louis. She preceded him in death.

He is survived one son: Phillip James (Rita) Ochoa of Troy; two sisters: Christine Marie Ochoa of Trenton and Olivia Ochoa, OP, of Troy; grandchildren: Colleen Fields, Carrie Ann (Toby) Sturek and Kathleen (Mark) Tomeoni; great-grandchildren: Jacey Sturek, Brielee Sturek and Macy Sturek and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Kathleen Ann Fields; one grandson: John Christopher Fields and brothers and sisters: Salvador Ochoa, Joseph Ochoa, Rosary Gutierrez, Mary Teresa Ochoa, Rufus Ochoa, Raquel Hall, Soladad Ochoa, Aurelio Ochoa Jr. and Ronald Lee Ochoa.

Mr. Ochoa was formerly of Venice, Illinois, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 307 and worked as a yard clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad for 45 years, retiring in 1985. He was a loyal father and husband.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville.
