Randall

In Loving Memory of
Susanne Robrecht Randall

Susanne Robrecht Randall passed away quietly on December 4, 2022 at Aspen Creek of Troy memory care facility. Susanne was born March 6, 1941 in Berkley, California. She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Alma Robrecht. Susanne is survived by her brother, Martin Robrecht (of Dallas, Oregon), and her children: Chris Randall (and Toni in Germantown Hills, Illinois) and Jennifer Maher (and Joe in St. Jacob, Illinois).  She's also survived by her granddaughters, Jacqueline Randall, Eleanor (Ellie) Randall, and Amelia (Millie) Maher.

After being born in the San Francisco Bay area, Susanne lived several years in Phoenix, Arizona where she met and married W. David Randall. After a short time living in the greater Chicago area,  the family moved to Alton in 1973. Then, in 1998, she moved to Glen Carbon where she lived until being placed in memory care in 2017.

Educated at San Jose State as an Occupational Therapist, Susanne worked in that role with many local hospitals and health agencies, mostly with St. Elizabeth's in Granite City. She was known for her original solutions for common problems.

Susanne was known for her creative thoughts and abilities as she worked in several mediums: ceramics, cake decorating, cross-stiching, and quilting. Her efforts often resulted in accolades and awards. For quilting, she was involved with both TNT (Ties, Needles, and Thread) Quilt Guild and Heartland Quilters' Guild. She also enjoyed traveling with friends to quilting shows and workshops. With every fall, she took great pleasure in creating Halloween costumes for her granddaughters.

Susanne was also involved in her church, initially College Avenue Presbyterian in Alton, then Lovejoy United, in East Alton. She especially enjoyed the fellowship with other parishioners.

A celebration of Susanne's life will be scheduled in the future. Details will be shared as soon as available.
